In Nursery and Reception we follow the Early Years curriculum. This is divided into 3 prime areas of learning and 4 specific areas of learning. Click on the link below for more information about Early Years.
Key Stage 1 and 2
In Key Stages 1 and 2 we follow the National Curriculum Programmes of Study for the subjects (click on the subject to learn more):
In addition to the National Curriculum we follow the Gateshead Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. We have developed our own scheme of work for Personal, Social, Health Education and Citizenship devised using the National Curriculum non-statutory guidance.
Much of our teaching and learning takes place within a topic based curriculum which has one main subject as the driver for the topic.
The Curriculum Overview maps out the topics and subject driver for each year group, each term.

At Falla Park Primary School, we seek to promote a safe, caring, secure and positive environment, in which all children are happy, can develop and grow, to ensure effective learning takes place.
All pupils have the right to a high quality education and as such we are committed to offering an inclusive curriculum tailored to individual needs to ensure the best possible progress for all pupils. All our pupils follow the National Curriculum, working at a level and pace that is appropriate to their abilities. We do this by ensuring;
- A range of teaching and learning styles
- All work is differentiated appropriately
- Access to ICT where required
- Additional adult support in class
- Interventions – additional support out of class
- Broad and balanced curriculum, including the children’s interests and experiences
- Access to the school’s counsellor
- Following specific advice from outside agencies e.g. Speech and Language, Educational Psychology, etc.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
