Our Reception and Year 1 children love our weekly Yoga sessions. The children love to tell stories through movement. They develop their balance, gross motor skills and become aware of special awareness whilst following instructions.
Year 2 had a great time developing their football skills with our NUFC coach. We have practiced controlling the ball using different parts of our foot.
Year 2 children went to Gateshead Leisure Centre to carry out lots of different activities that develop their balance and co-ordination with a number of other Gateshead schools. They participated in a range of activities to develop their hand eye co-ordination so they could hit the different targets.
The whole school had a great time learning and practising Judo. The children were able to use judo moves to tackle their opponent.
After school we have a hoopstarz club which the children thoroughly enjoy! This helps with hand-eye coordination, as well as improves their balancing skills. Children use different parts of their body to move the hoop in time to the music!
We have a a Funzone after school on a Tuesday night. The children have a great time developing their sport and co-ordination skills.
The children had a fabulous time at the Sage performing their Dance to other schools in Gateshead. They danced to the Lion King, they were so impressive!
The children worked with the Newcastle Eagle’s Basketball Team to develop their Basketball skills and competed in the tournament, they got through to the semi-finals which were then played at Sports Central, Newcastle Eagle’s home ground. The children were competitive and played well; the shootout was so intense!
Cross Country Competition
Well done to the children who took part in the Cross Country Competition on Wednesday 30th September at Watergate Forest Park. They all ran extremely well and did Falla Park proud.
Zhalian (Year 6) has written a recount of the event:
Firstly, the Year 6 and Year 4 children got ready to go to the competition. Whilst the taxi driver was driving us there, we were all discussing how excited and nervous we were.
Eventually, when we got there, we were all taking deep breaths to prepare ourselves for the event ahead, this is when the competition started! First up were the Year 6 boys (Keiron, Dillion, Sabiar and Lewis). It didn’t take them long to run the 1750m and with Lewis taking the lead they were finished in no time.
Then it was the girl’s turn, I was very nervous. Brogan, Skye and I were off like a shot! Due to it being a very warm day, we all got tired very quickly from the 1750m run. Skye was the first of the girls to finish.
After that, it was the Year 4 boy’s (Leon, Kai and Jared) turn to participate. They had a slightly shorter distance of 1200m to run, with Leon finishing first.
Finally, the Year 4 girls (Libby, Jessica and Sada) ran. After a rocky start, in which some of them fell, they had a cracking finish with Sada finishing first.
When the Cross Country was over, we had an ice lolly to cool down and we all relaxed and waited for the taxi to come. We were exhausted! Soon enough, we arrived back to school and off home we went for a well deserved rest!
