Rise of the Robots
During the Spring term we used our knowledge and understanding of components from our work in Science to plan, design and make robots. We worked in groups to make robot suits and gadgets. We had lots of fun wearing our suits, as well as making logos and advertisements for our products.
Centre for Life – Create a Burglar Alarm Workshop
We enjoyed our visit to the Centre For Life this term, as part of the Rise of the Robots topic. We took part in a create a burglar alarm workshop, which enabled us to use and apply our knowledge and understanding of electrical components.
Internet Safety Day
On Tuesday 10th February, the year 6 children were learning about how to stay safe on the internet including how to combat cyber-bullying and stranger danger. They used their fantastic IT skills to create posters to explain the dangers and how to STAY SAFE! Moreover, they went around different classes in school to share what they had found out, after all every child matters!
Michael Morpurgo Book Reviews
As part of our Book Worms topic this term, we have been reading books written by Michael Morpurgo. As he has written over 100 books everyone was able to have their own copy of one of his novels. We all wrote book reviews and have chosen our favourite ones to add to our website.
In class we have been reading the Butterfly Lion. Every week we have been working with Big Foot, Youth Theatre Programme to do drama and role-play activities linked to our novel.
Liz Million – Illustrator Visit
The fabulous Liz Million came to work with Year 6 this term. She has been an illustrator and author of children’s books since 1999. She taught us how to use different artistic skills and techniques to create our Super Villain illustrations.
