All About France
In the last half term year 5 learnt all about France! We learnt about culture, traditions, food and language. Did you know in France they don’t wear school uniform and they finish school at 2pm! We found out lots of facts about life in France and compared them with our lives. It was so interesting.
We had our parent open morning in the topic launch week. We made the Eifel Tower with art straws, created a booklet about France, showed our parents how to use Linguiscope and of course we finished of with some pan au chocolat!
We thoroughly enjoyed our France topic, especially our visit from the Fench Chef. Nick from Cooking for Life came in and worked with us. We made two popular French dished and some of us even snails! First we made delicious caramelised apple crepes and then tasty coq au van, afterwards we wrote instructions for the dishes so we can all make them at home now too! The workshop with Nick was the perfect celebration to the end of our topic!
As year 5 won the best attendance for last term we enjoyed a day out to the cinema and Frankie and Benny’s restaurant for lunch! It was so much fun. Hope you enjoy looking at our snaps.
At the start of term we visited the Winter Gardens in Sunderland for a fun filled day of science activities! Take a look at some of the things we got up to!
Cycling Safety Workshop
Year 5 and 6 took park in a Cycling Safety Workshop; we found out how to ride safely on roads and gained certificates at the end of the week! We had lots of fun.
